Some common sense...

Some scientists fear that human intelligence is declining. Gee whiz, they noticed. They chalk it up to a genetic mutation, or fluoride in our drinking water, pesticides, processed food, whatever.

But they’ve only scratched the surface. Here are some of the other key factors behind the rise of idiocy.

One. Higher education makes you stupid. There is no way you can sit in a college classroom for seven years to get a degree in “human rights” or “women’s studies” and not turn into an imbecile. If you think the university doesn’t maim the human mind, you haven’t really listened to the Occupy Wall Street crowd. ......read even more reasons why people are stupid... http://www.newswithviews.com/Duigon/lee188.htm

It is genetic, but rather than mutation, it is devolution. For 50 years plus, we have encouraged the less intelligent to reproduce, while encouraging the productive, intelligent adults to restrain from having more children than they could afford. In addition, regulations and other controls meant to "keep kids safe" have prevented the gene pool from cleaning itself. We no longer lose a couple thousand inbred children each year  from being thrown from the back of a pickup truck as their drunken daddy drives down a bumpy road. "Caution! This plastic bag is not a toy!" tags might prevent the child of a stupid parent from suffocating from a plastic bag. School buses and crossing guards assist children who otherwise would never care to find their way to school, where the less intelligent more often find others of like mind with whom to procreate rather than educate themselves. Lifeguards at the beaches save the lives of a few dozen who otherwise would not survive past puberty. The list is endless.

The lowering of intelligence is attributable to many things, but the taxpayer shares most of the blame. While restricting themselves to the number of children they are able to raise and support, they allow those among us who produce nothing but offspring to reproduce at a level that the dwindling number of taxpayers can no longer support. It is time for the bright, productive, ambitious members of our society to step up, breed like rabbits, and produce a nation filled with intelligent, ambitious offspring who breed like rabbits.

What a conumdrum.
