COMMON CORE ALERT

Parents, grandparents, anyone who has an interest in our childrens education. Common core is a Top-down Federal curriculum that will take control away from parents and local school boards and puts it in the hands of Washington Bureucrats. Come learn more and bring your neighbors. Especially if they have school aged children. This is important. It is not good for our schools. It is not good for Florida. Tuesday May 28 at 6:00 p.m. HOLIDAY…

Advice for those of you writing your Congressional delegation...

I spent six years working on Capitol Hill. One as a staff aide for a particular Senate committee, two as a legislative correspondent for a Senator, and three as a legislative aide for the same Senator.

For those of you who… Continue

To Scuttle HMS obamaKare

We have tried the conventional methods to rid our descendants of the curse  called obamaKare, and they have failed.

In 2010 we worked to elect Scott Brown to prevent the Senate from forcing a vote on the Bill, but obama and reid ignored standing rules and pushed it through despite a national uprising in support of Brown and opposition to obamaKare. We elected a Congress that promised to overturn it, but the majority of the…

RNC Declares War on Conservative Grassroots

From Breitbart News:

At a meeting of the Ripon Society held in Washington, D.C.'s exclusive Capitol Hill Club on Tuesday, new Republican National Committee Chief of Staff Mike Shields effectively declared war on the conservative grassroots. In a strong attack, Shields coined a new derogatory term, "the professional right," to refer to groups that have publicly criticized the recent RNC "Autopsy" report.

"It's a term I'll be using often in the coming months," he told the crowd of… Continue

HOLD PLACED ON SPACEPORT BILL AS TEXAS TAKES LEAD TO LAND SPACEX

via Jim Turner of the News Service of Florida

Legislation to seek out bold new aerospace businesses for the Space Coast is in a temporary stoppage in the countdown, on hold in the House as the bill's author works to patch a perceived glitch in the state's economic projection for spaceports.

The anticipated one-week delay comes as Florida's grasp on being America's launching pad faces mounting competition from Texas.

SpaceX founder and billionaire Elon Musk told a… Continue

DHS Priority list/Threat assessment

I use 1and1.com website hosting, and since Friday evening have had trouble getting to the admin side of my site. Users can see the site and enter orders, but I can not manage orders, change prices, or anything that requires admin login. Can not even get to 1and1.com! Problem has persisted all day today.

Around noon I got an email from 1and1, reminding me of the "Refer a Friend" campaign. I called the number and spoke to a very friendly guy, and explained that after the last 4…

WHAT MAKES PEOPLE STUPID?

Some common sense...

By Lee Duigon

NewsWithViews.com

Some scientists fear that human intelligence is declining. Gee whiz, they noticed. They chalk it up to a genetic mutation, or fluoride in our drinking water, pesticides, processed food, whatever.

But they’ve only scratched the surface. Here are some of the other key factors behind the rise of idiocy.

One. Higher education makes you stupid. There is no way you can sit in a… Continue

I Am Very Disappointed in Governor Rick Scott

I Am Very Disappointed in Governor Rick Scott

By: Erick Erickson (Diary) | February 20th, 2013 EDITOR OF REDSTATE

I was one of the few national conservatives to support Governor Scott in 2010 during his primary. He is a fundamentally great person. I really like him. He has been a friend to this site.

But I am terribly disappointed in his decision to expand Medicaid in Florida.

As one of the chief opponents of Obamacare and, before it, Hillarycare, Governor… Continue

The Elitist Mindset

In the past several weeks, we have heard the elitists in both politics and the media(if there is a difference) sneer and scoff at the thought of America's gun owners taking on the U.S. Military or Law Enforcement in response to a slew of new gun restrictions aimed at disarming responsible gun owners. They are so isolated in their heavily-fortified mental bunkers that they fail to see the light of day, and their vision of the coming battles does not even recognize the…

John Roberts- Fool, traitor, or both?

I own and love a Mosin-Nagant. The weapon was the standard in Russia through the Revolution, WW1, and WW2. Its offspring served the Chinese against the French and the Americans in at least 2 additional wars. It is living history. Upon purchasing mine, I disassembled and refinished the woodwork. It receives compliments everywhere it goes. When a surplus dealer offered used Mosin stock assemblies for sale, I jumped at the chance to refinish them.…

In response to Dave Barton's comment “It's pretty quiet lately”

Just 3 years ago we were vibrant, effective, and full of optimism. Today we would struggle to find the energy to go out and vote.

What has happened to us?

In 2010 we worked to elect a Congress that promised to be fiscally responsible, bold, and Constitutional. By August of 2011, many of those whom we supported had already been corrupted by the Washington establishment and jumped on the boehner train to ruin. Sandy Adams and Allen West come to mind with their…

Are We Going To Pressure legislators?

Florida is one of the states that has a piss poor record on defending liberties compared to Texas and Montana. Right now we need to proceed and to have the legislature enact into law some of the ammendments that were voted last November. One clause should include that once that legislation became law that if any attempt to repeal it in the future would have to have the vote of all reps and state senators. And if there is one no vote, then the law would not be repealed. Also I wish to present…

Amendment 2 clarified and rationale documented

This was posted by a user "J G" on the Yahoo article about banning "Assault weapons":

"The 2nd amendment is actually 3 part.

The 1st in giving the States the right to a "well regulated Militia" (note: by definition, well regulated in the 1700's meant "well supplied") and the 2nd in giving the right to keep and bear arms to individuals (no qualifiers). The 3rd part, the last 4 words that say it all, SHALL…

Overwhelming "insignificant" numbers

Hooray! Washington has avoided the fiscal cliff. Welcome to the abyss.

On the bond market open December 31, 2012, the U.S. 10 year treasury bill was priced to yield 1.72%. This morning it will be priced to yield 1.95%. Small potatoes, right?

Consider that on July 25, 2012, this same bond was priced to yield 1.40%. Had you bought $10,000 worth of 10-year T-bills on that day, they would be worth about $7200 on the open market this morning. True, if you hold until…

Shame on Gannett and Avaaz, Enemies of Our Freedom

The Journal News is a local newspaper in Upstate New York.  It is owned by Gannett, the same media corporation that owns and operates Florida Today, our local birdcage carpet.  On Christmas Eve, the Journal News published a map and a list showing the names and addresses of nearly 44,000 people in their 3-county service area who are licensed to own a handgun.  (In New York, this is a license to simply own a handgun per the 2nd Amendment, not to carry one.)  The newspaper decided to invade the…

So much more than a routine inventory check/theft investigation

The "raid"  Thursday by ATF agents and law-enforcement on the gun store in Connecticut was designed to send Americans various messages:

1) Message to gun store owners :"We will shut you down for any or no reason at any time, for any length of time we choose."

2) Message to neighboring store owners: "If you allow a gun store in your mall or…

help save your 401K

While many workers say they would prefer a lifetime pension to a 401K plan, the fact is that most companies can no longer afford to do lifetime pensions, and do not want the unknown obligation such a pension entails

As a financial advisor, I have seen the benefit of 401K plans. For clients who have been consistently investing in their 401k since the 1980's or before, the 401K provides more income than many get from social security. I guess politicians didn't like so many of their… Continue
